10 Happy Things

Sunday, 28 September 2014
I said I was going to make this a weekly thing, however two weeks have passed since my previous 10 Happy Things blogpost so I think I'm going to cut it down to every month! Maybe thats a good thing though considering my life isn't all that exciting.

Freshers night out.

1. Freshers Week. It really isn't my thing to go out every weekend but I did go out during freshers week and it was so much fun which surprised me a lot.

2. Downton Abbey. Need I explain more, Nope

3. Gogglebox. There seems to be a theme running through this blog post. Does this show you the excitement of my life.

4. Payday. Basically the most exciting day of the month. Money. Money. Money.

5. Berry Lipsticks. Autumn also known as when Berry lipsticks come out to play. New York Apple & Rebel from Mac are my absolute favourites.

6. University Open Days - Next week I have my first open day and I'm so excited for the fact I could be off to University next year and hopefully achieve all of my dreams.

7. Movie Nights. Being a film student must mean we like films, so movie nights with my friends is a regular occurrence.

8. The Guest. That ending???? Yes I like films. Problem. I thought not.

9. Friends. Talking to one of my best friends who lives in New Zealand is so great (when we have the time)

10. Online Shopping. This is something I never ever do but Missguided have some amazing stuff right now & the student discount is always good as well.

College Days.

Friday, 19 September 2014

Apparently it's officially autumn considering it was the first day I have worn a pair of tights. Today was a normal college day but I thought I would blogged my outfit. I am absolutely in love with my oversized denim jacket, it's so comfy and goes with everything. Also I have to mention my 'geek shoes' I wasn't too sure what I thought of these shoes to start with but that have been growing on me in the past week as thats all i've worn.

This skirt that I got from Topshop I actually brought it the Tall section even though i'm only 5ft 3. This skirt is still very short on me, so I can't image how short one in the petite section would be. I love this skirt for an everyday look because you can pair it with a longer top as well as a short crop top.

In my autumn wardrobe I kinda have this continuing theme running through it of black/white & grey, I think its time I went shopping and added a bit of colour to it. However as I say you can never have too much black.

Denim Jacket - Pretty Little Thing
Top - New Look
Skirt - Topshop (not online but should be instore)
Shoes - Primark
Bag - New Look
Lipstick Revlon & Mac

My Everyday Makeup Routine

Tuesday, 16 September 2014
So for the past two months or so I have been using the exact same everyday makeup routine, therefore I thought I would share with you the products I use.

To prime my skin I have been using Nivea Daily Essential Day Cream for normal to combination skin, I really love this moisturiser because it doesn't leave the skin feeling too sticky which has happened with my previous moisturisers. Next off I use my Body Shop primer 'Insta Blur' this is my favourite drugstore primer, I wouldn't say its as good as Benefit's 'The Porefessional' but I really love this. I apply both of these using my hands.

Next off for foundation I have two which I have been loving, the foundation I use almost all the time is my Revlon Colourstay for Oily Skin in Ivory. This foundation is probably the closest thing to my Mac Studio Fix I would go as far to say it is most probably a very accurate dupe. This foundation is medium to full coverage. It's amazing for my skin because it can get oily patches however this foundation seems to combat it. When I fake tan I use my Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in True Ivory, this foundation does have a bit of a shine to it therefore when I wear this I do have to powder afterwards with my Stay Matte. To apply my foundations I have been using my Real Techniques 'Duo Fibre Face Brush.

For concealer I have two I use on a day to day basis. The first one I use is that one drugstore concealer that I think nearly everyone owns; my trusty collection lasting perfection concealer in shade 1. I love this concealer so much its quite creamy and therefore high coverage, it's really good for dark circles which as a student is very much appreciated. When I wear my Wake Me Up foundation I do still stick to my lasting perfection concealer however I do use shade 2 then. The other concealer that I use is my Mac Studio Finish concealer in NC15, again this concealer is very creamy and high coverage, however this concealer is great for covering any redness which is the reason I brought it. To apply my concealer I use my 'Real Techniques Contour Brush'

Next up for eyeshadow the only product I have been using of late is my Mac paintpot in 'Paintely.' I love Mac paintpots and this one is especially good to hide any veins and redness. This paintpot can also be used as a primer under other eyeshadows. When it comes to eyeliner I very rarely use it however if I do I use my Soap & Glory 'Supercat' this eyeliner is great for a winged look.

Next up I bronze my face using my Hoola Bronzer, using my Real Techniques Powder Brush. I like to give myself more of a bronze face because my Revlon Foundation is still a little dark for me right now.

Eyebrows. This is literally my most important part of my make up routine. To do my eyebrows I use Soap & Glory Brow Archery in Brunette and I use the pen tip end. I have to say that it is my favourite product to do my brows with and I have tried so many brow products. On top of that I use my Maybelline Brow Drama in dark brown just to keep my eyebrows in place.

Finally for mascara I use L'oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume in Black Angel.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my everyday makeup!

10 Happy Things

Monday, 15 September 2014
In my attempt to get back into blogging again, I thought what better way than to try and do a weekly '10 Happy Things' I'm definitely not the most exciting person in the world but i'll see how far I can get. So here goes I hope you enjoy my '10 Happy Things'

1. Going back to college! I only went back on Friday a little bit later than everyone else and considering it was my first day back in three months it wasn't all too bad. It was completely different to my summer as all I did was work. I had seen some of my friends over the holidays but it was nice to have everyone back together again.

2. Applying for work experience - nearly every single night this week I have been researching and applying for work experience in Journalism to help me get into University, hopefully it will get me somewhere.

3. Seeing a lot of people I used to be friends with at school going off to University is making me so excited to go next year.

4. Volunteering at a film festival. Techinally I haven't started this yet but I'm excited because it will get me right out of my comfort zone.

5. Booking my driving lessons. Considering I'm almost 19 and I've not had one driving lesson is pretty bad therefore I made it my goal to book some lessons this week.

6. Starting blogging again. This has made me realise I was stupid to stop so I'm going to make it my goal to fully get back into it.

7. London Fashion Week - need I say more. LFW is making me so excited for the SS15 season especially the Topshop Unique line which is my absolute favourite.

8. Youtubers. I am absolutely obsessed with watching youtubers vlogs, I just find it so fasinating watching and seeing what they get up to in their day to day lives - clearly way more interesting than mine.

9. New Blog Header - Okay so my best friend Olivia, is one of the most talented people I have ever met when it comes to photoshop. I asked her to make me a new header for my blog and I love it so much.

10. Autumn - The past week I have started to notice that it is getting darker a lot earlier and this excites me so much because as much as I love Summer this is a sure sign that autumn is on its way.

The University Post

Thursday, 11 September 2014

The question I seemed to have been asked over 100 times this summer.... Are you going to University?

University is such a hot topic right now and currently that is what everybody seems to be asking me. Had I stayed on at sixth form I would be on my way to University right now (well I hope so anyway.) Considering I am a year behind the majority of my friends, due to dropping out of sixth form and going down a less conventional route.

Had you asked me two years ago, I would have definitely not said what I am doing now. I think college has given me more of an insight into what University will be like. Compared to sixth form, college has a very laid back style of learning, that sets you up for what university. I understand that that kind of atmosphere isn't for everyone, if you're the type of person that needs a teacher telling you every 5 seconds what you need to do maybe college isn't for you and therefore consequentially maybe university won't be for you either.

Ever since I was 14 years old I have known what I've wanted to study at University. Since I started my film studies GCSE, I remember thinking you know what I'm really enjoying this writing thing... is this an actual thing? Apparently my 14 year old mind didn't realise that you could get paid to research, report and write; amazing. I think in the past 4 almost 5 years I have looked up nearly every single University journalism course in the country. I think also in that time I have wanted to do every single area of journalism, I've gone from wanting to do broadcast, radio, sport and fashion. For the past year though I have been set on doing one thing, multimedia journalism. This course gives me the best of all the worlds by giving me an insight into all of them fields.

What do I do if I don't get into University?
I have thought about this so many times because lets be realistic not everyone gets into University. If I was to say hand on heart there is only one University I want to go to but say I didn't get in my top three then I would have to take a look at what I was doing wrong. I think I would most probably reapply for the following year and get a full time job in either make up or retail, with work experience for journalism on the side. However maybe in a years time my circumstances will be completely different, although I highly doubt it.

I think that University is the right path for me to go, however that doesn't mean its the right path for everyone. A lot of people do so much better going for apprenticeships or even straight into full time work. One piece of advice though don't be pressured into going to University by your family, college or sixth form... do what feels right to you!
